Stories In Print - Jess Kelly

Jess's Heartfelt Journey with Impression Jewellery.

When Jess reached out to us to help her create impressions with her Dad (Ricky) who was living in England with terminal cancer we couriered an impression kit to Jess immediately.

Sadly Ricky died at just 51 years of age in July 2022.

How did you decide you wanted to work with Coveted?

I had been following Coveted for a while and had admired their work from afar. I always thought that a piece of jewellery like this would mean the world to me if anyone close to me did pass.

Unfortunately that time carne quite quick for me as you all know so before Dad did pass I messaged Gemma from Coveted and explained my situation, she honestly blew me away with her service and got wax moulds over to the other side of the world ASAP so I could get Dad’s fingerprints.

“I’ll miss hearing your voice, your big hugs, our business chats, your smile, and your ability to make any situation light-hearted and fun,” Jess fondly recalls. “You were my biggest supporter, and I’m eternally grateful for the life you gave me. I only hope to live a life as adventurous as yours.”

What does having a Coveted Impression with your Dad mean to you?

I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do and have as a keepsake remembrance item of Dad but it’s now well and truly sunk in that this will be one of my most cherished items I’ll ever have.

I can’t thank you enough for getting those wax prints over to me ASAP. The last few weeks spending time with Dad is a period in my life I’ll cherish forever. Unfortunately Dad did pass away peacefully with the comfort of his family around him. Just before his time did come to an end we did the finger prints, it’s just something I totally forgot about until it really got to the end. I guess I was a little in denial still that he was passing. However in his last final moments we got four good fingerprints, prints that will be perfect as a necklace.

Wax impressions of fingerprints

Jess expressed her gratitude, saying, “Gemma, your eagerness to help me and your kindness will be forever appreciated. I can’t thank you enough for getting those wax prints over to me ASAP. These last few weeks spending time with dad is a period in my life I’ll cherish forever.”

I actually ended up purchasing two necklaces because there were four really great prints and I couldn’t decide between them. Another great way to remember a loved one.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about making impressions with their loved one?

I know these conversations are hard to have. Trust me, I totally get it! I tear up even just typing it. But if l can help you preserve a loved one’s memories then that’s a bonus. Death is a really hard topic but it’s also something we all inevitably have to go through. Things like these two keepsake Items have helped me so much through this time and now I’ll always have a special reminder of Dad.

We were happy to hear that Jess wears one impression necklace and her Aunty (Ricky’s sister) wears the other.  It’s a precious way for them both to remember their father/brother and keep him feeling close.

Thank you so much, Jess, for sharing your experience with us.  Your Dad’s impressions will always be memorable to me for how deep his details were in the wax.   So deep that you can really feel his prints with your own fingertips.

It just goes to show how unique each of our pieces are, and I am so pleased you have these heirloom pieces to remember Ricky by.

With love,
GG and the Coveted Team
